Avista monitoring crane incident at Post Falls North Channel Dam No customer of Spokane River impacts expected
SPOKANE, Wash. Oct. 29, 2024: This morning, Avista was alerted to an incident involving a crane failure from an Avista contractor on the Post Falls North Channel Dam Spillway.
We understand that an employee of the contractor was injured in the incident and has been transferred to a local area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Our hearts and prayers go out to the individual and their family.
At this point, the crane failure does not appear to have caused any significant damage to the dam structure or impact on generation at the powerhouse.
Avista is working with the contractor and incident command team to understand how the incident occurred and the steps for securing the site. As more information becomes available, Avista will provide additional information.
