Avista maintenance at Nine Mile Dam requires Nine Mile Reservoir Drawdown Drawdown to begin October 6 lowering the reservoir 12 feet for one week
SPOKANE, Wash. October 1, 2024: Avista will draw down Nine Mile Reservoir 12 feet starting October 6 for approximately one week. This drawdown will allow Avista crews to perform maintenance and repair activities on Nine Mile Dam. As in the past, Avista will take approximately two days to draw the reservoir down in an effort to minimize erosion and other effects on aquatic resources. The Nine Mile Reservoir drawdown does not affect the water level in Lake Spokane. See map below for area.
The water is drawn down at a rate no greater than four inches per hour to limit impacts to natural resources. The drawdown is anticipated to begin as early as October 6 and is expected to be returned to its current level by October 11, after the maintenance and repair work is complete.
