Crews inspecting power lines in Kamiah before restoration

SPOKANE, Wash., July 25, 2026 — Avista has started manual safety patrols in Kamiah after high-fire-risk weather conditions subsided today.

Avista understands customers are eager to have power restored and appreciates their patience as crews complete these important safety patrols. Before service can be restored, crews must patrol power lines and equipment to identify and repair any damage caused by weather or other conditions. These patrols help ensure power can safely be turned back on.

To help complete patrols as efficiently as possible, crews may use drones to assess lines and equipment in hard-to-reach areas.  

What to expect next  

• Crews will inspect power lines and equipment throughout the affected area.  
• Any damage found during patrols must be repaired before power can be restored.  
• Safety patrols are the first step in the restoration process. Once patrols are complete and any necessary repairs are made, crews can begin re-energizing the system.
• Restoration times will depend on findings, equipment conditions and any necessary repairs.  
• Until patrols are complete, we will not know whether repairs are needed, making it difficult to provide accurate restoration estimates.

Once patrols are complete and crews confirm equipment can be safely re-energized, Avista will begin restoring power to affected customers. Impacted customers will receive additional notification when their power has been restored.

Customers should never attempt to remove debris from power lines. If you see a downed or damaged power line, stay away and call Avista at (800) 227-9187.

Weather conditions can continue to change, and Public Safety Power Shutoffs may be needed in the future if wildfire risk becomes extreme. Avista will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.
