THOMPSON FALLS, Mont. – Aug. 21, 2025: Avista Utilities is proud to announce that its 15th Annual Charity Golf Scramble and Silent Auction, held on August 16, 2025, at River’s Bend Golf Course in Thompson Falls, raised $18,003 in support of Project ASCENT. This Montana nonprofit is dedicated to empowering underserved youth through outdoor education and adventure.

“We are so grateful to the Avista team and everyone who helped contribute to the total raised during this event. This will help us continue our great work within Sanders County and help fund our 2026 Summer Adventures. With this support, more Montana youth will get to explore wild places, build confidence, and become future stewards of our natural world,” said Andrea Christensen, Project ASCENT operations manager.

Avista has had a presence in Northwest Montana since 1959, when the Noxon Rapids Dam began generating hydropower and contributing to the region through job creation and long-term local investment. Its presence in Montana has brought lasting benefits, including support for environmental resources and community development.

Today, Avista manages stewardship along the Clark Fork River and 28 public recreation sites, offers scholarships to local students, and supports other philanthropic initiatives.

“At Avista, we believe being a good neighbor means pitching in, showing up, and supporting causes that help people thrive. We truly care about the communities where we live and work,” said Sean Kelly, Noxon Rapids Dam Chief Operator and golf tournament committee chair.

Each year, Avista chooses a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to benefit from the charity golf tournament and co-host the event. Organizations are selected with an emphasis on those that serve a vulnerable population and strengthen the local community.

Since the tournament started in 2009, the event has raised over $228,205 for local causes.
