Scott L. Morris
Scott L. Morris is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Avista Corp. He was named chairman and chief executive officer in 2008 and also served as president from 2006 to 2018.
Scott is an experienced utility executive who has served in a variety of leadership positions since joining the company in 1981. As a leader with a penchant for entrepreneurship and business development, Scott thinks differently. His vision goes well beyond the day-to-day or the year-to-year.
Scott was born and raised in Spokane, Wash. He is a graduate of Shadle Park High School and Gonzaga University where he received his master’s degree in organizational leadership. He also attended the Stanford Business School Financial Management Program.
Scott currently chairs the Board of Trustees for Gonzaga University. He also serves on the boards of Greater Spokane Incorporated, Edison Electric Institute, Washington Roundtable and the McKinstry.
He and his wife, Liz, are the parents of four children and two grandchildren.
